Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress has been a model for a while. The actress is best known for appearing in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6. The singer and actress christened Apollonia by Prince and became one of several female musicians in the '80s to benefit of her connection to the Purple One. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. The latter part of the 70s was when she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the role of the lead female on Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she made a change to her name) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 which performed in the film under the title Apollonia 6. Her performance had more impact on the charts as Prince's partner in Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. Kotero was able to break up with Prince following their falling apart over her future work. Kotero went on to be featured in numerous minor movies during the same time (reportedly declining to appear on her Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing in the role of a nighttime drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut record was released in 1988. The R&B and dance tracks weren't well received by the public who purchased music. It soon disappeared. Apollonia continued to perform in the acting world (even if it was a tiny bit under the radar) in the years following and also appeared in a few television shows and film appearances. A workout video also came out. Apollonia's Stay With Me album came out in 1997. After returning to school and receiving a degree for filmmaking she started her own production company.
