
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter also known as actress, and activist. Born in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she was a student at The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis became famous as she won the third season on The X Factor 2006 and was awarded a contract of PS1 million and Syco music. The winner's single that was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's song "A Moment like This" was downloaded 50,000 times within 30 minutes. It also peaked at number 1 for about four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis has signed a deal for five albums in the United States with Clive Davis's label, J Records. Lewis's success continued with the announcement of her first studio album, Spirit (2007), which was certified 10x platinum in the UK as well as becoming the fourth best-selling album of the 2000s , and also one of the best-selling albums in UK chart time. The Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the most successful 21st century female debut album. "Bleeding Love" The lead single of Spirit, remained Number One on the charts in the UK for seven weeks. It also was one of the best-selling songs in the United Kingdom. The track was the highest-seller in 2008, and Lewis received the Billboard Award for the Most Popular New Artist. Echo was her second studio album. Lewis also composed the song "I I See You" on behalf of Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide" as a collaborative effort together with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as her first extended show, Hurt: The EP. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), represented a fresh direction in music for Lewis and her music, drawing inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. The Glassheart Tour was in the middle of 2013, when she started recording songs to record her first Christmas album. Following that, her album Christmas with Love featuring the title track "One more sleep", reached number three within the UK. Lewis is a British female solo artist, was the first artist to make it into the top of the list with eight singles. It was more than Olivia Newton John's record which contained seven songs.
